On April 29, 2010, the Board of Directors for the Arizona Polygraph Association (AZPA) approved a quality assurance (QA) initiative, which would provide a “no-fee” public service for polygraph examiners. A six-member panel from the Association, separated into three categories to serve our polygraph community, including law enforcement, private examiners, and Post-Conviction Sex Offender Testing (PCSOT). Any information provided during the QA process will be done anonymously. This process is not a replacement for official Quality Control or Peer Review processes adopted by the American Polygraph Association (APA) or the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), which are designed for a more comprehensive analysis and typically includes the review of all relevant materials, including the electronic recording of the polygraph examination in its entirety.
The AZPA continues to explore the feasibility of other incentives to advance the quality of polygraphs in the State of Arizona to uphold and maintain industry standards. For more information, please contact Matt Jacobs at MJacobs@elmirageaz.gov.
